Cam Sensor Wiring Diagram (Part 1)
NOTE: The camshaft position (CMP) sensor wiring diagrams and info in this page apply only to 1996, 1997, 1998 Dodge/Plymouth SOHC/DOHC 2.0L.
The PCM provides 8 Volts DC on the ORG wire to 3 sensors, which are the: camshaft position (CMP) sensor, the crankshaft position sensor and the vehicle speed sensor (on the transmission).
If you're testing for a short to Ground, a short to power, or an open in this circuit, you'll need to unplug all 3 sensors to test this circuit.
Testing the cam sensor can be accurately tested with just a multimeter. The following tutorial may be of help when testing the actual crankshaft position sensor (to see if it's creating a signal, or not, with a multimeter):

Sensor Ground is provided by the BLK/LT BLU wire to about 9 different sensors. If you're testing for a short to Ground, a short to power, or an open in this circuit, you'll need to unplug all the sensors this wire connects to (test this circuit).
Where To Buy The Cam Sensor And Save
You can buy the camshaft position (CMP) sensor for your Dodge/Plymouth Neon in just about any auto parts store but you'll spend a whole lot more because they mark it up quite a bit.
My suggestion is to buy it online or at least comparison shop to get an idea of how much it costs and how much you can save.
