The engine management system computer is known by a few different names, the most common being:

  • Electronic Control Unit (ECU) —pretty ancient term.
  • Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

Ford calls it the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) Module and it's the component in charge of managing fuel, spark, and emissions control.

Since the PCM on these vehicles is a 5th-generation PCM, it's identified as the EEC-V module.
